In the 1960's several communities in Boston needed to find unusually creative solutions to problems that were threatening their existence.  John Sharratt was able to work with neighborhood residents, the City, and private sector participants, to meet the needs of those communities and help them not only to survive but also to build the future.  In 1966 the growing firm became established as John Sharratt Associates Inc. (JSA).  Its growth was based on the commitment to help people save and shape their environment.  The lessons learned from those early experiences have been successfully used to benefit other communities, institutional, commercial, public, and private sector clients.

Creative problem solving is the basis for our practice, whether we are developing a window detail or a new community; our best solutions come from the most challenging problems.  While our services are sought for a range of specialties, clients particularly value the firm's ability to quickly identify the most important problems and to maximize the opportunities inherent in their projects.  Working closely with our clients, we facilitate a design process that creatively integrates their needs and objectives with the possibilities and restrictions of the project.  From this process we are often able to create an environment or structure that transcends the good, functional solution to achieve the intellectually and physically beautiful solution.

The client is the center of our total design process.
